Indigenous Canada Services offers wide-ranging post-secondary educational programs and strategies that support First Nations, Inuit, Métis Nation post-secondary students pursuing post-secondary educations.
University and College Entrance Preparation Program
This program’s mission is to enable First Nations students to achieve the academic level required for entrance into Universities and College programs. It offers non-repayable financial support for First Nations students enrolled in an accepted university and college entrance preparation programs. This program may cover eligible expenses like tuition fees, books, travel support, and living allowances.
Indigenous Bursaries Search Tool
The Aboriginal Bursaries Search Tool is provided by Indigenous Canada Services that lets you access a searchable list of 518 bursaries, scholarships and incentives offered by governments, universities, college, private and public companies, individual Canadians, organizations and others aimed at Indigenous students.
Indigenous Canada Services Funding Program
Besides offering funding for educational programs, Indigenous Canada Services also offers funding programs for health, housing and social. They are aimed to assist and help Indigenous people on their intended needs and to further improve the quality of services towards Indigenous people.
Indigenous Community Support Funds
Canada cares about its people's health, safety, and well-being, and with Indigenous people being the original inhabitants of Canada, they remain a top priority among all. This fund provides and can be used for measures including but are not limited to support for elders and vulnerable community members, measures to address food insecurity, educational and other support for children, mental health assistance and emergency response services, and preparedness measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
First Nations and Inuit Summer Work Experience Program
This program is intended for First Nations and Inuit people. It allows them to be exposed and learn about career options and earn an income that may help assist them to a university or college education. This program includes plans to offer wage subsidies to the private sector and non-profit employers so they may hire eligible First Nations and Inuit youth, help First Nations and Inuit secondary and post-secondary students obtain summer employment and prepare entry into the labour market, and enable First Nations and Inuit youth to earn wages.
